When Kate and the
girls walked to Delphini beach with Flora, she told them that it was
possible to walk around to the next beach to the north, so this
afternoon, we drove to Delphini and set off along the coast path.
The walk was lovely – and very fragrant thanks to the native thyme
and sage that we kept brushing as we walked - but the path slowly
became less distinct and eventually petered out at the base of a
ridge that ran all the way down to the water and very effectively
blocked our path. We started to climb the hill to see if we could
find a way over, but Kate and the girls gave up pretty quickly and
headed back to the car. I kept on going and eventually made it to a
break in the dry stone wall that ran down the top of the ridge and
was rewarded with a great view down to the beach. I then walked back
high along the hill, passing numerous pink cyclamen flowers that had
obviously come up recently but were sadly already mostly drying up.
