Today was the first
official day of term at the School of Mum and Dad. We split up –
Kate took Zoe for some maths and English lessons and I taught Sarah
some algebra. The girls were keen to role-play, but as we only wanted
to do an hour's work with them, we role-played strict, no-nonsense
teachers and put them straight to work.
In the afternoon, we
walked along the little coastal path to the next beach along from
Kini. The path itself was very narrow and closely bordered by all
manner of low, spiny shrubs, which the girls actually took as a
positive as it meant that they could scratch their mosquito bites
without getting told off. Sarah was a bit nervous of snakes and the
occasionally precipitous drop down to the water, but relaxed a bit as
we spotted a few lizards and flowers.
When we finally
reached the beach, we were greeted by the sight of a bit more exposed
middle-aged flesh than we would perhaps have liked. Zoe took it all
in her stride, but Sarah was rather scandalised: 'They're called
private parts for a reason, people.' We walked right to the other end
of the beach for our swim, not so much to escape the nudists as to
avoid the rocks that were just under the water along much of the
length of the beach.
