After a breakfast of
pancakes and fruit shakes at Mr Heng, we went back to the hostel,
where I worked on my Mongolia story and the girls did some school
work and played on the Playstation. When it was time for lunch, we
walked around the block looking for somewhere different to eat, but
nothing looked terribly appealing and we ended up back at good old Mr
Heng.
In the afternoon,
Kate booked a hostel in Phnom Penh for tomorrow night and I finally
finished off my Mongolia feature. To celebrate, we went downstairs to
the bar and opened the bottle of sparkling Pinot Noir that we had
purloined from Song Saa (the bar staff kindly provided us with some
Champagne flutes, although it took some time as they first had to
find the glasses and then give them a wash – apparently they don't
get used much). As we drank, the girls went for a swim and we watched
with amusement as a rat made its way around the pool area and back,
jumping from potted palm to potted palm. And then we went for dinner
at, you guessed it, Mr Heng.
